11th Contest of Secondary School

The Centre and Foundation ‘Holocaust’ are to hold the 11th International Contest of Secondary School, University Students’ and Teachers’ Works on the Topic ‘Memory of Holocaust is a Way to Tolerance’.

Contest Objectives:
- analyze the lessons of Holocaust to promote awareness and tolerance in the modern world;
- teach people to think independently, critically and form a vision of the world based on the moral values of a civil society;
- encourage teachers, secondary school and university students to teach and learn the history of Holocaust, explore and analyze the modern methods of presenting the topic;
- expand the contacts and exchange experience of Russian students and teachers with their foreign peers and counterparts.

Citizens of Russia, CIS and other countries can participate in the contest:

  • comprehensive school students (8-11 grades) and students of specialized secondary educational institutions;
  • college and university students;
  • teachers of secondary and higher schools, post-graduate students.

Candidates can submit:

  • research works (general and topical);
  • creative works (essays, short stories, verses, drawings, documentaries, websites)
  • investigative works (interviews, family history research based on documents from personal archives, certificates, etc.)
  • methodological materials.

Teachers present methodological materials on the topic of Holocaust:

  • plans and hand-outs of lessons;
  • syllabi of optional classes;
  • projects;
  • scripts of out-of-school activities;
  • learning aids;
  • articles for sections of teaching and learning aids.

Computer programs, multimedia projects and websites can also be submitted.

Best works are awarded by special letters of commendation of three categories.

Winners’ works are recommended for publishing.

Contest winners get valuable gifts.

Contest winners and participants are invited to participate in seminars, study courses, coferences, trips to the places of Holocaust both inside the country and abroad.

Submission deadline – from 1 May to 1 November 2012 (when submitting before 1 June you might add a few finishing touches to your work according to reviewers comments).

General Sum-up of Results – December 2012.
Award presentation to prize recipients – Moscow, January 2013.
